Erman Özbaşaran was born in 1982 in Çorlu. He graduated from Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department. He continues his work in his workshop in Istanbul.
Erman Özbaşaran's works uses stains, lines, objects left aside or scrapped, demolished historic buildings that have been destroyed and about to disappear, architectural details, vague objects and shapes. Özbaşaran creates textures that are destined to “perish” as the backgrounds of his works which give the impression of a plan, this also leads to deformation. The photos artist took and manipulated himself include cityscape details. Cityscapes, city life, gentrification projects, ceaseless destruction and construction projects are themes that can be seen and sensed in the photos. With the Axis series, artist centers the time-space problem on the surface of the painting and draws attention to the separation and merging of the time we live in, and past and future by dividing thesurface into two with a horizon line. With the Axis series, in which he creates an imaginary landscape on a surface he defines, the artist has recently focused on texture, color and light.
