In the exhibition, which includes artists Burcu Erden, Mithat Şen, Erman Özbaşaran, Olgu Ülkenciler, Ahmet Çerkez, Yasha Butler, Ahmet Elhan and Ilgın Seymen, we see mediums like sculpture, relief, ceramics, ready-made, photography and painting.
“Mountain” is one of the dominant forms in the human-nature relationship with its gigantic mass that can be quickly visualized, and its solid, hard and indestructible image. The large-scale relief of the earth, a quarter of the landmass and the mountains, which are the columns of the earth, have functions beyond what we see in terms of regulating the air flow, creating an air filter with its fauna, preventing severe hurricanes and shaking and giving a balance to the earth.
“Mountain” is a meditative entity with its calmness, inclusiveness and stability as well as opening to strong connotations as a form. The mountain, which is the shelter and maturation station of prophets and heroes, which we frequently encounter in sacred texts, is one of the main motifs of mythology, art and literature. The mountain, which is pointed as a source of sacred power with its proximity to the sky, is the host of difficult living conditions and survival tests. Mountains, which are almost natural temples, symbolize a maturity stage where faith is tested by being alone with oneself.
Gallery Bosfor invites you to look at this powerful image again with its opening exhibition “The Mountain” and underlines that it is built on a gallery system in which the artwork and the artist are the carrier columns.
