Galeri Bosfor is proud to announce the first solo exhibition of Renin Bilginer, titled "Night Parade of One Hundred Women," scheduled to run from May 2nd to May 31st. Renowned for her captivating interdisciplinary approach, Bilginer draws inspiration from Japanese folklore and ancient matriarchal narratives to present a mesmerizing body of artworks that blur the boundaries between reality and myth. Drawing inspiration from the iconic “Night Parade of One Hundred Demons” Japanese picture scrolls, Bilginer's exhibition offers a contemporary twist on this age-old legend. The show invites viewers to embark on a journey into an imagined ancient matriarchal world, where feminine beings transcend the confines of our reality and venture into our realm.Bilginer's artistic vision manifests through a series of captivating artworks that depict nude female characters adorned with masks, headdresses, jewelry, and textile elements. These objects serve as conduits for their transformative power, allowing them to transcend gender roles and societal expectations. As viewers immerse themselves in Bilginer's narrative, they witness these characters undergoing various stages of transformation, from wearing masks to developing supernatural attributes like claws and scales. Through her exploration of the supernatural within a feminist framework, Bilginer challenges conventional norms and constructs, offering a subversive reinterpretation of traditional folklore. Each artwork within the exhibition intricately weaves together elements of ritualistic behavior, sacred objects, and surreal patterns, culminating in a visually stunning homage to the feminine spirit. Central to Bilginer's artistic exploration is the interplay between textile and painting practices. Fabric is depicted within paintings, while dyes are meticulously applied to fabric, blurring the boundaries between mediums and symbolizing the journey from one world to another.
