Shaped through stitching and repetitive hand movements, the artist’s works invite viewers to consider memory not as a fixed narrative, but as a living experience activated through touch, rhythm, and intuition. Here, fabric becomes less a vessel that carries memory and more an element that awakens it; memories emerge not as images, but as sensations and forms of bodily proximity.
Başer’s practice also encompasses the transmission of textile knowledge inherited from her grandmother, Melahat, carried into the present through an intergenerational continuity. Rather than a nostalgic return, this transfer points to a process in which memory is reshaped in the present and opens toward the future. The resulting works trace not grand narratives, but small moments, everyday fragilities, and quiet intensities.
Presented at Galeri Bosfor, The Remaining Warmth proposes an alternative temporality shaped by slowness and attentiveness, in contrast to a perception of time built on speed, productivity, and constant progress. Bringing together paintings, collages, and works composed of diverse materials produced over the past seven years, the exhibition approaches memory not as a record frozen in the past, but as a living field felt in the present and capable of making the future possible.
- This press release has been prepared in line with the texts included in the artist’s book accompanying the exhibition. The texts were written by Pariya Ferdos and Erin Li. The artist publication will be available at Galeri Bosfor between February 24–28, 2026.
