Bosfor transforms its gallery space into a labyrinth with EnigmaVista, curated by Gökşen Buğra and designed by Umut Durmuş, running from March 1 to April 20, Enigmavista stands out as an exhibition that pushes the boundaries of both the space and traditional art viewing experiences. With its contemporary approach to architecture, installation, space management, and artwork display, this exhibition invites viewers on a journey to explore the connections between space, perception, and intuition.
The labyrinth of Enigmavista is enriched with architectural elements such as corridors, rooms, and corners, featuring a spatial layout that narrows, expands, descends, and ascends. The curation, spatial design, and richness of color and texture in the artworks stand out in the exhibition, where colors from Nippon Paint's palette were used as part of the solution. Views from windows and gaps, reflectors, hidden pieces, surprises, and faint sounds create a sensory-stimulating exhibition. Integrating seamlessly with the exhibition, Nippon Paint's new product, DeepMatt, which creates beautiful frames every hour without glare on the walls, and Code Black paints, which unravel the secrets of black, reinforce the viewer experience, adhering to the motto of "the supportive power of original designs." The exhibition design, implemented with contributions and consultancy from TEPTA Lighting, specializing in lighting fixtures, also emphasizes the power of lighting in artwork placement.
Each piece in this creative and innovative labyrinth was carefully selected to showcase the artist's originality, bringing materials and thoughts to the forefront. Exhibition curator Gökşen Buğra, comments: “By breaking the definitions of our space and taking a bold approach to the exhibition atmosphere and the impression left on the viewer by the artwork, we aimed to create a labyrinth with the placement of the artwork, lighting, interactive elements, and thematic transitions. Highlighting the nuances of the exhibition, we wanted to provide the audience with an unforgettable experience during their visit.”
Featuring works in various mediums, from small pieces to large-scale installations, with scale variations and diverse materials such as stone, metal, wood, digital printing, polyester, and ceramics, the exhibition creates sculptures, paintings, music, and atmosphere through interactive installations. The design of the exhibition also becomes part of the experience. Umut Durmuş, the designer of the exhibition, commented: “We designed one of the physical reflections of the labyrinth of thought, consisting of questions about the impact of space on the artwork, the function of the art gallery, and the design of the viewer experience. In the agile and relatively free atmosphere of the art gallery, we experimented with how the physical components that make up the classic exhibition environment such as color, light, texture, and soundcould come together in different ways, based on what the artworks made us feel. We will continue to examine the relationship between the art object and its environment.
